Last Meeting: Chez Pascal - Sans Souci.
Last Meeting: Chez Pascal - Sans Souci. Philippe welcomed us with the news that we were to have a 5 course degustation,
3 entrés, main & dessert. Crusty Bread was served with olive, herb & unsalted butter. The first entrÈe was roman tomato and
goat’s cheese on toast with olive oil a tasty start. The second was sautÈed king prawns on artichoke cream & chivet, an unusual
combination. The third was veal kidneys with french mustard & cream, salty creamy
The sparkling, NV Pier - Heidsieck Champagne, served first was dry, fruity and refreshing. Then the white
wine followed, a 2005 Pauletts Polish Hill River Care Valley Riesling which was light with just a slight
vapour of kerosene. The main was rare pan fried kangaroo with red currant jelly & black peppercorns
with steamed vegetables (slightly overdone). The red wine was 2005 Leasingham Bin 61 shiraz. The
Horse’s Arse was won by David Gossling - Well Done !
Dessert was a combination of summer berries with lavender custard accompanied by a sweet Woodstock
Mclaren Vale Botrytis Semillon.
It is good to see Philippe’s Chez Pascal is still up to standard!

This Meeting: Etch
Etch is situated in the Intercontinental Hotel on corner of Phillip & Bridge Streets and has a great
ambience. Etch was started late last year by Justin North (of Bécausse), the 2009 All-Clad Chef of The Year in the SMH Good Food
Guide and with chef, James Metcalfe we will have a “wagyuful” lunch.
