This Meeting: Three Fish
Yep sure, Cronulla RSL has a great view up the beaches, however the thing that attracted me to this venue was the passion to do food as well as could be done within a club environment. I promise that you will be well rewarded with a memorable lunch this month. We don’t have the place to ourselves of course, but will be as separate as can be. Come along and see what another of our local hidden gems is achieving with food.

Last Meeting: Three Fish
Our host Chris Carroll welcomed 19 members and 4 visitors to Three Fish with help from some of his mates from ‘The Fishmongers’ in Hurstville Westfield for our Entrée done al fresco: Freshly shucked Sydney Rock oysters from Hastings River, Wallis Lakes, Tweed River and Tuncurry, and some excellent Pacific Oysters were tried with a selection of tasting sauces. On a vote the favourites were the Hastings River and Wallis Lakes equally, however they were all good, really succulent and creamy. These were enjoyed with the sparkling, a Cloudy Bay ‘Pelorus’ from Marlborough NZ, and then moving on to a Pizzini Pinot Grigio 2010, King Valley, Vic.
Chef Todd got us started on Main course double lamb chops (two chops cut together from a rack, with one of the bones removed) accompanied by relish and vegetables. This was accompanied by the masked wine, a Bleasdale Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 from Langhorne Creek, SA, 14% abv. George Caruana won the HA with 85 points from Peter Denham on 75 and seven of us on 70 points.
Dessert started with fresh berry fruits with a scrumptious (very popular) fruit gelato, and finished with a mixed cheese plate, also very popular.
The sticky accompanying this was a remarkable Vidal-Fleury (Muscat, Beaumes-de-Venise) by Tupin et Semons, from the Southern Rhone Valley in France), a match made in heaven, then coffee and tea.
For those that desired it, the sea was a short stroll away, and the weather even cleared up.

News: Welcome to our newest member, Michael York (yes one of Curt’s sons) – nice to see a family tradition being started.
Reminder that our March meeting will be our 250th meeting and 22nd anniversary back at our Charter Night venue – Le Sands. Please invite past members of your acquaintance.
We trust that you had an enjoyable and safe Christmas and New Year, see you at Seaglass.
