Le Pelican is a FRENCH Restaurant adjacent to Taylor Square set in an old heritage sandstone terrace that has the feeling of a traditional bistro in France. The chef & owner Jean-Francois Salet was at Bayswater Brasserie for many years & also starred on the TV show My Restaurant Rules.
For the lovers of French food I am sure you will enjoy this one.
LAST MEETING: SALN BLANC
A pity the weather wasn’t the best to highlight the venue, however it was a good day to enjoy hearty food
& great wines. We had the best attendance for a long while even though that included 15 visitors.
The input from the Penfolds Representatives was very much appreciated – Thankyou Lindsay for organising it. From the comments & scores the food was well received. Starting with crumbed cheese balls as a starter with the Bubbly. Then the oxtail ragout with Pappardelle pasta for entrée scored very highly, some people thought the Chardonnay didn’t really compliment it all that well. The beef tenderloin accompanied by the 389 was as good as it gets. The Vahlrona chocolate was very rich but the Grandfather Port went very well with it.
The overall service was excellent & chef Alex Ensor was entertaining when he came out to talk.
Andrew Stewart the Penfold wine expert ran a great wine options game & Graham Cull won the Horses Arse.
My apology to David Melville for omitting to announce that he won the Horses Arse at La Sala the previous month.
