This Meeting: Catalina's
Catalina is one of Australia’s great destination restaurants situated on a landmark Rose Bay site on Sydney Harbour’s eastern foreshore. Paul McMahon is Catalina’s Executive Chef. His fresh and authentic menus are inspired by the classics - French, Italian, Spanish and Mediterranean.
Catalina’s has been awarded two stars by Gourmet Traveller 2008 and 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide and 1 Hat Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2009 (hatted restaurant every year since opening in 1994)

Last Meeting: Aaron’s (AGM meeting)
A great day had by all – 19 members. On arrival we enjoyed 3 canapes, soft shell crab, pork belly with tomato chilli jam which was a big hit, corn fritter with brie and avocado salsa accompanied by Seppelt Salinger (unfortunately 2001 had passed its useby date) but the 2003 and 2005 went well. The warm seafood plate which was accompanied by the 2005 Pfalz pinot blanc was a generous serve and scored highly. The double roasted duck on a bed of sweet potato mash was as good as it gets and went down well with the 2004 Visancuvee traditional burgundy. The winemaker was Cotedurhone. The baked chocolate tart was a little rich but the noble one was the icing on the cake and went well. Overall service was excellent and Chef Aaron and staff made sure we had an enjoyable afternoon.
Horses Arse was one by Bryan Alexander.
Ken and I are looking forward to a great year with good food and wine, varied experiences and lots of laughs.
